RDA

The Relationship Development Assessment

The Relationship Development Assessment (RDA) is a dynamic assessment that examines the state of the Guided Participation Relationship.  The RDA is broken into 3 parts and occurs over several days.  The RDA is included as a part of the RDI® Program for Autism, the Guided Participation Program and the Dynamic Education Program and is administered once every 6-12 months.  It can also be utilized independent of these programs as a screening tool to determine if there is a need for intervention.

  • The RDA1 consists of several pre-determined activities that are provided for each parent and child to participate in.  Both the parent and child are observed to determine each individual's areas of strengths and weaknesses as it related to the Guided Participation Relationship.
  • The RDA2 consists of the child and consutlant.  In this part of the assessment, the consultant is testing out hypothesis drawn from RDA1.  We are looking at the possibility of if parents do certian things differently, will the child be capable of more than they demonstrated in RDA1.
  • The RDA3 is a meeting with parents and consultant only that reviews the results of the assessment and the development of an individualized plan, moving forward based on the results.
