What is the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale?
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale (ADOS) is considered the gold standard for assessing autism spectrum disorders. The ADOS is a semi-structured assessment that is appropriate for ages ranging from toddlerhood through adulthood and is appropriate for a wide range of severities and language abilities. The administration of the test takes 30-45 minutes and activities vary depending on the age and language level of the individual being tested. The ADOS measures the individuals communication and social interaction skills as well as restrictive and repetitive behaviors and interests.
Laura Hynes completed the clinical training in administration of the ADOS with Dr. Catherine Lord, developer of the test. Extraordinary Minds is now offering ADOS administration. The ADOS will be implemented as part of the RDI Program for Autism and will also be available to the general public.
